Island Korcula- the island of Marco
Polo and rich cultural heritage
Come to know Korčula - the historical and tourist centre of the island of the
same name in the South Dalmatian Archipelago. Known as the birth-place of Marko
Polo, this town has been justly called "a little Dubrovnik" due to its
picturesque squares and medieval atmosphere. While the works of skilful Korčula
stone-masons cause wonder by its perseverance, Moreška brings liveliness to the
streets of Korčula, as one of the three chivalrous dances you can see only on
this exceedingly beautiful island!
The island of Kocula has the largest number of
residents of all Croatian islands and it is favorite tourist destination. This
jewel of the Adriatic is full of the bays and small islands, pine wood and olive
groves, medicinal herbs and flowers. On the island of Korcula is also birth town
of Marco Polo. One of the particularities of Korcula is famous old dance called
Moreska which is being played in July in the memory of Turkish attacks on
Korcula. If you come on this island of rich tradition, different cultural
