| Brac (Latin Bretia, Brattia;Italian:
Brazza; German: Bratz;) is an island in the Adriatic Sea within Croatia, with an
area of 396 km², making it the third largest island in the Adriatic, and thus
the largest in Dalmatia. Its tallest peak, Vidova Gora, or Mount St. Vid, stands
at 778 m, making it the highest island point in the Adriatic. The island has a
population of 13,000, living in numerous little towns, ranging from the 'main
town' Supetar, with more than 3,500 inhabitants, to Novo Selo, where only a
dozen people live.
The island of Brac is known for its beautiful pebble Beach Zlatni Rat in the town of Bol and it is one of the most
famous destinations for surfing and kite-surfing on the Adriatic. Brac stone is
also famous worldwide. It is mined only from Brac's quarries and local houses
are built from it, as well as the most luxurious houses in the world such as the
White house in Washington. The island of Brac has something for
everyone. It is famous for its Zlatni rat beach situated outside of the town of
Bol. The beach is a favourite destination of surfers and all water sports
lovers. In the smaller places on the island such as Milna, Supetar or Bobovisce
one can easily find peace and quiet in the authentic stone architecture.
Visitors who wish to experience the atmosphere of a fisherman village are
recommended to visit Positra, a small place near the bay of Lovrecina, an ideal
spot for a fish picnic.
Brac is famous for high quality stone, which was used
for many cultural monuments in Croatia and abroad.

is a cave nearby. It lies on a rather inaccessible part of the island

Zlatni rat beach (town Bol) is 530 meters long and has form of
triangle. It`s uniqueness is that it changes its shape depending on high water
and ebb. On the beach Zlatni rat many facilities are offered- water sports, many
cafe bars and restaurants. Brac is favorite destination for young people
so entertainment on this island never ends. One of its biggest qualities is
extreme richness of flora and fauna. Brac is definitely an island on which you
can have everything you want during your holidays in Croatia- you can find many
places for peace and solitude but also a big offer of fun and entertainment.
Supetar is the largest town on Brac and Bol is must see.
